President’s Report to the 2006 AGM

Dear members,

We now have water restrictions after what they still call a drought but we have no restrictions on our supply of liquid refreshments – a plentiful supply to satisfy everyone.

The audit of the accounts has uncovered the unfortunate revelation that this year has not proved very profitable.

The Bar and Finance Committee, chaired by Mr Paul Scoble assisted by Mr Robert Gibb have still managed to keep the bar prices stable and are at present looking at a selection of guest beers.

The Games and Social Committee, chaired by Mr Paul Clarke have once again achieved a high standard for the club members. Bill’s bingo is still an attractive event on Sundays but we would welcome any new players who are feeling lucky.

This year we are forming a new men’s darts team so anyone wishing to join please contact the Games Committee. There are other groups running interesting activities including fishing, shooting and golf, all of which make leisure time enjoyable – all enquiries welcome.

Mr Andy Cunningham, Chairman of the House Committee, together with his team refurbished the club with very smart new seating and tables. A new surveillance colour CCTV has been installed throughout the club premises, and we are active members of the Pub Watch which is run in this area.

My sincere thanks to the Chairman Mr Robert Gibb, the Treasurer Mr Clive Scott, and Mr William Adams, the Secretary and all the Committee Members for their loyalty, support and hard work for the club during the past year.

Congratulations to this year’s new life members who are :- Michael Batchelor, Tom Edwards and Thomas Duffy.

Regrettably I have to announce the deaths of the following members :- Robert Mackay, Charlie Gilling, Mick Crenan, Ted Richardson, Charlie Picket and Stan Pullen.

I would like to thank Alison, the Steward and all the bar staff for their continued hard work throughout the year. We would like to recruit some new members this year who will patronise the club and bring in new ideas.

My thanks to you all.

Anthony Shackleford

President
